The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 February for 5 nights. On Friday work will take place between 9pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25 13 to M3 junction 2.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 1 and 3 including junctions 1 and junction 2 and the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 February for 5 nights. On Friday work will take place between 9pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A30.

One lane will be closed in both directions on the northbound and southbound A331 under the M3 at junction 4 overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Tuesday 23 February.

M4 junction 5 Slough, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 24 February for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 26 February for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: junction improvement

Work to the electrical components of new lane designation signs to aid drivers using the junction continues this week.

The slip roads and merge onto the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 February for 2 nights.

The slip roads and merge onto the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 24 February for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A329(M) Winnersh Triangle junction and Coppid Beech roundabout.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge installation

Work to improve journeys by installing the new Reading University Bridge near Shinfield continues this week. The M4 between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3270 and A329(M).

The new bridge is being installed over the M4, as part of the construction of the new Shinfield Eastern Relief Road, by HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction on behalf of the University of Reading. For further details visit the scheme page.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: structural inspection

Work to improve maintain safety by inspecting structures along the M27 takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: carriageway maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the M275 takes place this week. The link roads from the east and westbound M27 carriageways to the M275 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 22 February for 5 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A2030.

A27 Eastern Road Portsmouth, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve safety on the A27 slip roads begins this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 22 February for 10 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 12.

A3 Hampshire: slip road lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining lighting on the A3 slip roads in Hampshire takes place this week. The Liss southbound exit and entry slip roads and the Longmoor northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 February. Clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070 or next available junction.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 22 February until the end of March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Kings Worthy (Winchester), Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance will start this week. One lane will be closed on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 23 February for 4 nights.

A34 Three Maids Hill, Hampshire: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 continues this week. One lane will be closed on the northbound carriageway and slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 22 February.

A34 Litchfield, Hampshire: drainage maintenance

Work to improve drainage along the A34 continues this week. One lane will be closed on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 23 February.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the Easter Bank Holiday weekend (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 continues this week. One lane will be closed on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 24 February for 3 nights.

A34 Botley to Peartree Interchanges, Oxfordshire: parapet repair

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge parapets near Godstow will start this week. One lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 4 March (Monday to Friday only).

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by install new LED lighting along the A308(M) starts this week. One lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 February for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).
