The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 August but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 4 including junction 5 and 4a entry slip roads and junction 4a and 4 exit slip roads as well as access and exit roads to Fleet Services will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287, A30 and A331.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road and the clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 2 including junction 4a, 4 and 3 entry slip roads and junction 4a, 4 and 3 exit slip roads and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 24 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287, A30 and M25.

M3 junction 14 Eastleigh, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the link from the M3 southbound carriageway to the M27 eastbound carriageway takes place this week. The southbound link will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 24 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 3.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. Lane 1 of the eastbound carriageway and exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 August.

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 11 Reading to 12 Theale, Berkshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways near Burghfield overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 24 August.

M4 junction 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways near Hermitage overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 August.

M27 junction 3 Southampton, Hampshire: utility diversion

Work to maintain safety by diverting utility cables as part of a scheme to replace the A3057 Romsey Road bridge continues this week. Narrow lane running will be in place on the bridge during both day and night time hours until Wednesday 31 August.

M27 junctions 5 Eastleigh to 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M27 near Southampton Airport takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 August for 3 nights.

M27 junctions 12 to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. Lanes 1 and 2 of the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights.

In addition, the link from the M275 northbound to M27 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 Northern Parade.

M271 junction 1 Lordshill (Southampton), Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journeys as part of the construction of the Lidl distribution centre continues this week. The M271 between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 August for 2 nights.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place up and across the junction.

A3 Ripley/Ockham to Guildford, Surrey: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 between Ripley and Guildford finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway from the Dennis Interchange at Guildford to the Ripley/Ockham junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 22 August.

In addition, the slip roads between these junctions will be closed with clearly signed diversion routes in place.

A3 Guildford to Compton, Surrey: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. The southbound carriageway between the Stoke Interchange at Guildford and Compton will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 23 August for 3 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Guildford, the A31 Hogs Back and B3000.

A3 Burpham, Surrey: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane 1 of the southbound carriageway and exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 22 August.

A3 Griggs Green, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 22 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Longmoor junction.

A3 Weston, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road at the B2070 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 23 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next junction.

A3(M) junction 1 Horndean, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 23 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 (Hazelton).

A31 Stoney Cross to Picket Post, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Varied lane closures on both carriageways will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 August for 4 nights.

A34 Oxford to Wendlebury, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 August for 4 nights.

A34 Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 24 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Islip junction.
