The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 2, including junctions 4a, 4 and 3 entry slip roads, will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Monday 21 September. The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including M25 clockwise and M25 anti-clockwise link roads to M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 22 September for 2 nights. The southbound entry slip road at junctions 4a will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Monday 21 September for 3 nights. The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 including junctions 4a and 4 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am on Thursday 24 September and between 10pm and 6am on Friday 25 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A30 and M25 junction 13.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures will be in place on the approaches and around the roundabout until autumn 2015.

M3 junctions 6 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge waterproofing

Work to improve safety by replacing the bridge’s waterproof surface and expansion joints begins this week. Narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit will be in place in both directions between junctions 6 and 9 until mid-December.

M3 and M27 Eastleigh to Nursling, Hampshire: technology replacement

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing technology systems on the M3 and M27 near Southampton continues this week.

The M3 junction 13 southbound entry slip road and southbound link road from the M3 to the M27 westbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 September for 13 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via M3 junction 12 and M27 junction 5.

M4 junctions 5 to 6 Slough, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing street lighting continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 2 October (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: junction improvement

Work to ease congestion by widening the slip roads and remarking lanes at the junction continues this week. The slip roads and merge onto the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway will be closed from 9pm on Friday 25 September through to 6am on Monday 28 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway and the Winnersh Triangle junction. Work is due to be complete by the end of September.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: bridge repair and drainage maintenance

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys by replacing bridge joints and beams at the Chieveley Interchange and replacing sections of the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 23 October (Monday to Friday only). In addition, sections of the hard shoulder on both carriageways will be closed 24 hours a day for the duration of the works.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion continues this week.

The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 21 September for 4 nights. The M271 southbound (between the A3057 Romsey Road roundabout and junction 3 of the M27) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Tuesday 22 September for 3 nights. The western overbridge will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Wednesday 23 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

M27 junction 9 Park Gate, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing slip roads takes place this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12

M27 junction 11 Fareham, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing slip roads takes place this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 25 September for 3 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

A3 Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing slip roads along the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The southbound entry slip roads at Liphook, Griggs Green and Longmoor will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Hazel Grove.

A3(M) junctions 5 Bedhampton to 3 Hulbert Road, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing the A3(M) northbound carriageway takes place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2177 and B2150.

A31 Ringwood, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain road user safety is taking place this week by carrying out a drainage survey in Ringwood. The Ringwood westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 24 September. The Ringwood westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 25 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Ashley Heath and Poulner Hill.

A34 Winchester to Bullington, Hampshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance along the A34 continues this week. A lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 2 nights.

A34 Beedon to East Ilsley, West Berkshire: bridge repair

Work to ensure road user safety by strengthening the bridge at Ashridge Farm starts this week. The southbound carriageway between the Milton and Chieveley Interchanges will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 September for 3 nights to allow 24 hour narrow lanes to be installed. The same stretch of the northbound carriageway will then be shut overnight during the same hours on Saturday 26 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40, A404 and M4.

In addition, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways Sunday 27 September until the end of October.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Milton interchange to Botley interchange, Oxfordshire: survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys of the carriageway take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 3 nights.

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out geographical surveys continues this week. One lane of two will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights.

A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: safety barrier

Work to improve road user safety by repairing sections of the safety barrier continues this week. A lane on each carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 September for 3 nights.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire to Parkhouse Cross, Wiltshire: Resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of both carriageways of the A303 near Thruxton Race circuit continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the A338, A3026 and A342 to Andover.
