The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 12 August but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including the junction 3 entry slip road and the clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to the M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 15 August for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 19 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A322, A30 and M25.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and the junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 15 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2, the M25, A30 and A322.

The M25 junction 12 clockwise link roads to M3 in both directions at junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 15 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place: via junction 13, A30 and A322.

The southbound exit slip road at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 15 August for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 19 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 4 and return.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a including junction 4 entry slip road and junction 4a exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, from Friday 19 August for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A327.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 18 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7.

M3 junction 8 Popham, Hampshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys at the M3/A303 interchange takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the links at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 3 nights.

M3 junction 12 Chandlers Ford, Hampshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 15 August.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh to Chilworth Interchange, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the lighting columns along the M3 completes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 19 August.

M4 junction 5 Slough, Berkshire: bridge joint

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement will take place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 5 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. Lane 1 of the eastbound carriageway and exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 16 August.

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. Lane 1 of the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 19 August.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 12 Theale, West Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway near Hermitage finishes this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 18 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4.

M27 junction 3 Southampton, Hampshire: utility diversion

Work to maintain safety by diverting utility cables as part of a scheme to replace the A3057 Romsey Road bridge continues this week. Narrow lane running will be in place on the bridge during both day and night time hours until Wednesday 31 August.

M27 junctions 2 Ower to 3 Southampton, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 19 August.

M27 junctions 5 Eastleigh to 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 19 August.

M27 junctions 7 Hedge End to 9 Parkgate, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The eastbound carriageway from Hedge End to Parkgate will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 17 August for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M27 junctions 11 to 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The eastbound carriageway from junction 11 to Hilsea will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 15 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M271 junction 1 Lordshill (Southampton), Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journeys as part of the construction of the Lidl distribution centre continues this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the M27 junction 3 roundabout and Redbridge Roundabout.

M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the road network along the M275 takes place this week. The M275 northbound carriageway and the links from the M27 to the M275 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 4 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 Northern Parade.

A3 Clanfield, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. A lane on the southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 5 nights.

A3 Ripley/Ockham to Guildford, Surrey: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 between Ripley and Guildford starts this week. The southbound carriageway from the Ripley/Ockham junction to the Stoke Interchange at Guildford will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 3 nights.

In addition, the northbound carriageway from the Dennis Interchange at Guildford to the Ripley/Ockham junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 18 August for 3 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2215, A247 and A25.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance takes place this week. The Hindhead Tunnel northbound bore will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 4 nights. Traffic will run through the southbound bore in contraflow.

A34 Milton Interchange, Oxfordshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 17 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via West Ilsley.

A34 Abingdon to Oxford, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 15 August for 5 nights.
