The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 November 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that links the M1 to the M25 will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M1 southbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 November for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am from Friday 11 November for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30 and the A331.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 November for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am from Friday 11 November for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M25 junction 5 (A21), Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3) Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 12 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, B374, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 14 Heathrow Airport, Greater London: road lining

Work to maintain safety by carrying road lining will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November and Wednesday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 19 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney to 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 November for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1081, A414 and the A1(M) southbound to junction 1.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: road lining

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road lining will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: road lining

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road lining will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 8 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, Greater London: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 8 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road to junction 30, A13, A128 and the A127 to M25 junction 29.

The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128, A13 and the dedicated link road to junction 31.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The clockwise carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November and on Wednesday 9 November, and between 11pm and 6am on Friday 11 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between junctions 30 and 31.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 November for 2 nights and from Thursday 10 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between junctions 31 and 30.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 11 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ripley and the A3 southbound to Burpham and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The A13 eastbound between the A1306 (Wennington Interchange) and the A1012 (North Stifford) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 8 November and from Thursday 10 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012 to North Stifford.

The A13 westbound between the A1012 (North Stifford) and the A1306 (Wennington Interchange) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November and on Wednesday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and A1306.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 7 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 8 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 9 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 10 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 11 November (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 12 November (8.30pm to 6am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 13 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance/road lining

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance and road lining continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 11 November for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A316 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: road lining

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road lining will start this week. The westbound exit slip road at Park Road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 junction 1 exit slip road.
