The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 1 April 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 4 April for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to join the M1 at junction 4.

M1 junctions 6 Bricket Wood to 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 4 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A405 northbound and M25 anti-clockwise to junction 21.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M1 southbound to M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 7 April for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and return.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junction 2 and junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 April for 6 nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 4.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M4 westbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 5 April for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 4 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 9 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 11 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 9 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out smart motorway improvements on the M3 continue this week. The M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 April for 6 nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13 and A30.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 5 April for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 to junction 5 and return.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will take place this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 7 April for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will take place this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 4 April for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 5 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3100.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 April, for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 April, and from Wednesday 6 April for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 8 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 4 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 5 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 6 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 7 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 8 April (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 9 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 10 April (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

A316 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will continue this week. The eastbound entry slip road (M3 junction 1) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 4 April for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308, A311 and the A312 to join the A316 at the Hampton Road junction.

A316 Feltham, Greater London: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The westbound carriageway and entry slip road at the Snakey Lane/Nallhead Road junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am from Wednesday 6 April for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316 eastbound, A312, A311 and the A308.
