Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 27 October - Sunday 2 November

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24 October 2014 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 6a, Hertfordshire: Verge work

The southbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for seven nights from Monday 27 October. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 to join the M25 anti-clockwise at junction 21a.

M3 junction 2, Surrey: Barrier repair

The westbound link road to the M25 clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 28 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11.

M4 junction 2, Greater London: Structure maintenance

The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between midnight and 5.30am, for five nights from Monday 27 October and also on Sunday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Chiswick High Road to Chiswick roundabout.

M11 junction 4, Greater London: Carriageway resurfacing

The southbound link road to the A406 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Friday 31 October. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Redbridge roundabout.

M11 junction 6, Essex: Major improvement

The northbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 28. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Thursday 30 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 26.

M20 junction 1, Kent: Lighting renewal work

The westbound link road to the anti-clockwise M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for four nights from Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the M25 junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junction 5, Kent: Litter clearance

The anti-clockwise link road to the northbound M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 and A25.

M25 junction 18, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for five nights from Monday 27 October. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 19.

M25 junctions 25 to 27, Hertfordshire to Essex: Major improvement

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place on both carriageways between junctions 25 and 27, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional lane and slip road closures required.

M25 junction 25, Essex: Major improvement

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24.

M25 junction 26, Essex: Major improvement

The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Tuesday 28 October. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 28. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 25. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 1 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 25. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Saturday 1 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28.

M25 junction 27, Essex: Major improvement

The clockwise exit link road to the M11 north and southbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 31 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28.

M25 junction 30, Essex: Carriageway sweeping

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29.

M25 junction 31, Essex: Carriageway retexturing

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 30 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and the Mar Dyke viaduct.

A1 junction 1, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for two nights from Thursday 30 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1 northbound to junction 2 or via the A1081/A1000 to Sterling Corner. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for two nights from Thursday 30 October. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

A1 Rowley Lane Junction, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for two nights from Thursday 30 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Sterling Corner. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for two nights from Thursday 30 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A5135 to Sterling Corner.

A1(M) junction 3 – 4 Hatfield Tunnel, Hertfordshire: Carriageway inspection

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for five nights from Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A100 and A1001.

A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: Carriageway retexturing

The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Monday 27 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 28 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A220.

A2 Westbound, Kent: Signage work

The dedicated link road leading to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for two nights from Wednesday 29 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout.

A4 Greater London: Structure maintenance

The westbound carriageway between the Chiswick roundabout and Ealing Road will be closed overnight, between midnight and 5.30am, for five nights from Monday 27 October and also on Sunday 2 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A205, A315 and B455.

A13 Thurrock, Essex: Speed limit

A 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways between the junctions for the M25 and the A1012, 24 hours a day, with additional lane and slip road closures required.

A13 Thurrock, Essex: Carriageway retexturing

The eastbound exit slip road leading to the A126 will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 31 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306 and the A126.

A13 Wennington, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing

The westbound carriageway will be closed from the Wennington Interchange to Ferry Lane overnight, between 10pm and 5am, for three nights from Wednesday 29 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Barrier removal

The eastbound entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 29 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13.

A282 junction 1a, Kent: Construction work

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5:30am, for three nights from Wednesday 29 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

A282 junction 1b, Kent: Construction work

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5:30am, for three nights from Wednesday 29 October. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

The following closures will be in place, with a fully signed diversion in place for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 27 October (8:30pm to 5am): northbound East Tunnel closure
  • Tuesday 28 October (8:30pm to 5am): northbound East Tunnel closure
  • Wednesday 29 October (8:30pm to 5am): northbound East Tunnel closure
  • Thursday 30 October (8:30pm to 5am): northbound West Tunnel closure
  • Friday 31 October (9pm to 5am): northbound East Tunnel closure
  • Sunday 2 November (8:30pm to 5am) northbound East Tunnel closure

A1089 Tilbury, Essex: Structure maintenance

The carriageway between Asda roundabout and the Tilbury Docks entrance road will be operating a contraflow system overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, for five nights from Monday 27 October. Work overnight on Friday will be between 11pm and 6am. Any abnormal loads wishing to pass through the contraflow will be required to pull into the layby either side of the works and call to be escorted.

Safety at roadworks

The Highways Agency is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

  • Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.
  • Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.
  • Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.
  • Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.
  • Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.
  • Observe all signs – they are there to help you.
