The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24 June 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junctions 1 (A406) to 5 Watford, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 28 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 and A41 to M1 junction 5.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 junction 1, A406, A41 and the A1.

M1 junctions 4 Edgware to 1 (A406), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 27 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, A1 and A406 to M1 junction 1.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link road from the M3 southbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed, overnight between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 southbound to junction 3 and return. On Thursday 30 June, the diversion for M25 clockwise traffic will be via the M3 southbound to junction 3 and return, M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return. The dedicated link road from the M3 northbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed, overnight between 8pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 30 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

M4 junction 3 (A312), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed in between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 30 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 27 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1a and return.

The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 28 June for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 Cobham Services, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 10 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 27 June for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 27 June for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10 and A121 to M25 junction 26. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 29 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 1 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1055, A1010, A121, A10 and M25 clockwise to junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 29 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 1 July. A clearly signed pre-diversion will be in place via junction 29, A127 and A13. A secondary diversion will be available via junction 1b and return (not suitable for vehicles which exceed 4.8m in height).

M25 junctions 31 Lakeside to 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise link road between the junctions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Wednesday 29 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, Wennington Interchange and A13 to M25 junction 30.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 30 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via B2039, Forest Road, Horsley Road, Downside Road, Bridge Road and A245 to Painshill.

A10 Enfield, Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The southbound carriageway between Great Eastern Road and M25 junction 25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A121, A1010 and A1055.

The southbound carriageway between M25 junction 25 and Bullsmoor Lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 29 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 24, A10, A121, A1010 and A1055.

The northbound carriageway between Bullsmoor Lane and M25 junction 25 will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 1 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1055, A1010, A121 and A10.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place, additional lane restrictions are in place on the M25 junction 30 roundabout. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 2 nights and on Friday 1 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between M25 junction 30 and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 29 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road to junction 31, A1306, A1012 to North Stifford.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 June for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday night will start at 9.30pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.

The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 27 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Tuesday 28 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 29 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 30 June (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Friday 1 July (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 2 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 3 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
