The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 November 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing on the structure that links the M1 to the M25 continues this week. The dedicated link road from the M1 southbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M3 junction 2 (M25), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm to 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

The southbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 26 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M3 southbound to junction 3 and return.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 3nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13, A30 and A331.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30 to the M25 junction 3. The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to the M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 5 Colnbrook, Berkshire: electrical work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 westbound to junction 6 and return.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 to M26 junction 2, M20 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26, A21, A25 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 to junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

The clockwise link road to the M3 northbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 to junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 14, Heathrow Middlesex: carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road and Terminal 5 spur road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Middlesex: surveying

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M4 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 18 Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire: vegetation work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 20 Kings Langley, Hertfordshire: vegetation work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation work will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 21a and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 20 and return.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 clockwise to junction 22 and return.

M25 junctions 22 to 23 London Colney, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between junction 22 and junction 23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 23 November for 4 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1081, A414, A1(M) southbound to junction 1.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the A1(M) will continue this week. The northern half of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1(M) to junction 2 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, London: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 26 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: inspection work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out inspections will start this week. The northern quarter of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128 and A13 to junction 30/31.

M25 junction 30/A13 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the A13 eastbound via the newly constructed dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the A13 eastbound. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the A13 westbound via the newly constructed dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the A13 eastbound, to the A126 and return.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed pre-diversion will be in place for the A13 via M25 junction 31 and the A1306 to the Wennington Interchange.

The A13 westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the M25 clockwise via the A13 westbound, A1306 and M25 junction 31 roundabout. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the M25 anticlockwise via the A13 westbound to the A1306 and return on the A13 eastbound and the newly constructed dedicated link road from the A13 eastbound to the M25 anti-clockwise.

The A13 eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the M25 anti-clockwise via the newly constructed dedicated link road from the A13 eastbound to the M25 anti-clockwise. A clearly signed diversion for the M25 clockwise will be in place via the newly constructed dedicated link road from the A13 eastbound to the M25 anti-clockwise, M25 junction 29 and return.

The A13 eastbound carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and A1012.

The A13 westbound carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306 to Wennington.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Friday 25 November for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 30 link road to junction 31 entry slip road.

M25 junctions 31 Lakeside to 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The northbound carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 24 November for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 31 link road to junction 30. On Friday traffic wishing to re-join the M25 anti-clockwise will have a clearly signed diversion via the junction 31 link road, A13 eastbound, A128, A127 to rejoin at junction 29.

A1(M) junction 3 Hatfield, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing starts this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 21 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 22 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 23 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 24 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 25 November (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 26 November (8.30pm to 6am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 27 November (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 25 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A3/A243 Hook Road junction Guilford, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound carriageway between the A243 Hook Road junction and the A243 Esher Common junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A243 Hook Road, M25 junction 9, A243 via Oxshott to A3 Esher Common.
