The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 April 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the junction lighting starts week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A406, A41 and A1.

M1 junctions 5 Watford to 6 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 and the A405 to M1 junction 5.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link roads from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 northbound will be in place via M25 junction 11, return to M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 1. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 southbound will be in place via M25 junction 11, return to M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 5 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 2 nights and between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30pm, on Sunday 8 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out smart motorway improvements on the M3 continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 northbound will be in place via M25 junction 11, return to M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 1. A clearly signed diversion for the M3 southbound will be in place via M25 junction 11, return to M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 15, M4 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs starts this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 3 May. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 21 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs starts this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 4 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: structural and electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural and electrical repairs will continue this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 28 (A12), Essex: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs starts this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The southbound link road from junctions 30 to 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 4 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 westbound to the Wennington Interchange, and the A1306 to M25 junction 31.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

A3 Esher, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 3 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the Tolworth junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Painshill junction and return.

The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 4 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the Painshill junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Tolworth junction and return.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 5 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Esher junction and return.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Esher junction and return.

A3 (M25), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Ockham junction and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 4 May for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between M25 junction 30 and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 7 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 31, A1306 and the A1012 to North Stifford.

A40 Denham, Buckinghamshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints will continue this week. The eastbound carriageway between Denham Roundabout and the B483 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4020 and the B483.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

The southbound clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.

The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Tuesday 3 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 4 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 5 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Friday 6 May (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 7 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 8 May (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
