Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 19 October to Sunday 25 October

M1 junction 2 Holloway, Greater London: structure maintenance/lighting work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure maintenance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 22 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41. Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting works will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 20 October for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A406 and A41 to the A1.

M3 junction 1 Sunbury, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 19 October for 3 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A308 and A311.

M3 junctions 1 Sunbury to 2 (M25), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308.

M4 junction 4 Edgware, Greater London: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 19 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M1 southbound to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 3 Swanley, Kent: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise dedicated link road to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 23 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junctions 5 Sevenoaks to 4 Bromley, Kent: joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacements will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and the northbound link from the A21 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 21 October for 4 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26, A20 and M20 to rejoin the M25 at junction 3.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 19 October and Wednesday 21 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 20 October and Thursday 22 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will continue this week. The junction 10 roundabout between the M25 clockwise entry slip road and the anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed pvernight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion for road users on the A3 southbound wishing to travel on the M25 clockwise will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway surfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out concrete surfacing and fine milling will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 12 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 22 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13.

M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise junction 16, M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise junction 16, M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 19.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 22 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to junction 20.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 24 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 22 London Colney, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 22 October for 2 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 20 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 24 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway resurfacing and structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A1(M) junctions 2 Welham Green to 4 Hertford, Hertfordshire: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance will continue this week. The northbound carriageway including the entry slip roads at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 21 October for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A20 Swanley, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The A20 westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 21 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A225, B2174, A2018 and A223 to Crittals Corner.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance/Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 1a exit and entry slip roads. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 24 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 junctions 1a Swanscombe to 2 Bexleyheath, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The southbound carriageway and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A206, B255 and the A2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures. The closure of the QEII Bridge will divert traffic via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnels.

  • Monday 19 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 20 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 21 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 22 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 23 October (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Saturday 24 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 25 October (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have 3 (of 4) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 19 October for 5 nights.

A406 Brent, Greater London: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The eastbound link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 23 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Brent Cross.
