The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 15 July 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 junction 1, the A406, A41 and the A1.

M3 junction 1 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: electrical repair/vegetation clearance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs and vegetation clearance will start this week. The southbound entry slip road and northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Snakey Lane roundabout and return.

M3 junction 2 (M25), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link road from the M3 northbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 July for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from M3 junction 3, via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 4 West Drayton, Greater London: drainage work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

M4 junction 4b, Greater London: drainage work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M4 eastbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 junction 4 and return.

The dedicated link road from the M4 westbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M4 junction 5 and return.

M20 junction 1, Swanley, Kent: resurfacin

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M20 westbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 19 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junction 5 (A21), Kent: litter clearance/resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance and resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads at junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 and A25.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads at junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 20 July for 3 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 spur road to the A25 Westerham Road junction and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 23 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 18 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 16 and the M40 to junction 1 and return.

The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 16 and the M4 junction 1 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 20 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return.

M25 junctions 25 Enfield to 26 Waltham Abbey, Greater London: carriageway sweeping / tunnel safety work Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping and tunnel safety checks will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 24 and return.

The clockwise carriageway between junction 25 and junction 26 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A406 and M11 to M25 junction 27.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 29 (A127) to 30 (A13), Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128 and A13.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 20 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 20 July for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 31 and 30.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306 and M25 junction 31.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and M25 junction 31.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 21 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

The clockwise exit slip road at junction 30 of the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed pre-diversion will be in place via junction 29, A127, A128 and A13. A secondary diversion will be available via junction 1a and return (not suitable for vehicles which exceed 4.8m in height).

A3 Esher, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via the Painshill junction and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the Tolworth junction and return.

The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 19 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via the Tolworth junction and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the Painshill junction and return.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via the M25 junction and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the Esher junction.

The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 21 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Esher junction and return.

A3 (M25), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 21 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Ockham junction and return.

The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via the Ockham junction and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the Painshill junction and return.

A20 Swanley, Kent: inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out an inspection will start this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 21 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2173.

A25 Chipstead, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A25 Westerham Road to the M25 spur road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 18 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21 southbound to Morleys Roundabout and return.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe to junction 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A206, B255 and A2 to M25 junction 2.

A282 junction 1b Dartford to junction 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated southbound link road from junction 1b to junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A296 and A2 to M25 junction 2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 18 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 19 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 20 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 21 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 22 July (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 24 July (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lane closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 July for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A316 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: vegetation and electrical work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out vegetation and electrical work will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A312 and the A308.

The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 22 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A312.

A405 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The right-hand turn facility from the A405 northbound to the M1 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 20 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A405 to M25 junction 21a roundabout and return.
