The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 November 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M1 junction 5 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 18 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 4, A41 Spur Road Roundabout and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 6 and return.

M1 junction 6 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation management starts this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 17 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 3 Lightwater, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, the A30 and the A322 to M3 junction 3. On Wednesday 18 November, a clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, the A30 and the A331 to M3 junction 4.

M4 junctions 3 Hounslow to 1 Chiswick, Greater London: drainage work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway including the junction 2 and Heston Services entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 16 November for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 and the A312. The eastbound carriageway including the Heston Services and junction 2 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 16 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A312 and the A4.

M20 junction 1 Swanley, Kent: structural maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out structural maintenance will start this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed between the exit and entry slip roads overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 16 November for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying litter clearance will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 1.30am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.

The northbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 1.30am and 5am, on Tuesday 17 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return. The southbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 1.30am, on Wednesday 18 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 4 Orpington, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance starts this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5, the A21, A25 and A21.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping starts this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 5, A21, A25 and A21. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M23 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 19 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 18 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for clockwise traffic via junction 13 and return, and for anti-clockwise traffic via junction 11 and return to junction 13.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road at junction 20 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return. The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 9am, on Saturday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 20 Kings Langley, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5am, on Sunday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 21 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 30 (A13) to 31 Lakeside, Essex: traffic management installation

Work to install temporary safety barriers will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

M25 junctions 31 Lakeside to 29 (A127), Essex: traffic management installation

Work to install narrow lanes and a temporary 50mph speed limit will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 17 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road to M25 junction 30, A13, A128 and the A127.

The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 19 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128, A13 and the link road to M25 junction 31.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The eastbound link roads to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 18 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1 and return.

The westbound link roads to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 19 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and return.

A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via the A233 interchange and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via M25 junction 2 and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. On the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place from Tuesday 17 November. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between M25 junction 30 and North Stifford will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 31, A1306, and the A1012.

The eastbound A13 carriageway at M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 18 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place the exit and entry slip roads.

The anti-clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 17 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road to M25 junction 30, A13, A128 and the A127.

The clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 19 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A127, A128, A13 and the link road to M25 junction 31.

The clockwise M25 carriageway between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the A282 Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 20 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 16 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 17 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 18 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 19 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 20 November (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 21 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 22 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have 3 (of 4) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 3 nights.

A316 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound carriageway between the M3 junction 1 and the A312 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 18 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and the A312.
