Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 14 December to Sunday 20 December

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 December 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge joints over the A1 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 December for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M1 junction 4 Elstree, Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41 to junction 5.

M1 junction 6 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A405 and A414. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Middlesex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will start this week. The westbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M11 junction 7 (M25), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7 and return.

M25 junction 2 Bexleyheath, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A2 to the Bean interchange and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 1a.

M25 junction 3 (M20), Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M23 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A23 northbound to the A237 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: barrier repair work / carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety by carrying out barrier repair work and resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 10 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 18 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10 and return.

M25 junction 13 Staines, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 14 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: signage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out signage maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise link roads to both directions of the M40 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 14 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 14 December for 2 nights and from Thursday 17 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield (A10), Hertfordshire: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 December. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The link roads from the M25 clockwise to the M11 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 28 (A12), Essex: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway lining

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lining work will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 16 December, for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

A1(M) junction 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and the A1001.

A3 Copsem Lane, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Friday 18 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 northbound to Tolworth interchange and return.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 15 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Wisley interchange and return.

A3 Wisley, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 northbound to the Painshill interchange and return.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 December and from Thursday 17 December for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3100, Clay Lane and B2215.

A13 Tilbury, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound link road to the A1089 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 roundabout and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford including the slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 December for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance / litter clearance

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys on the A282 Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 15 December and between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 18 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place on Tuesday 15 December via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place on Friday and Saturday via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 16 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 15 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 2 and return.

A282 junctions 2 (A2) to 1b Dartford, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The link road between junctions 2 and 1b will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 16 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2 eastbound to the Bean interchange and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 14 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 15 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 16 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 17 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 18 December (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 19 December (9pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 20 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

A405 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound to southbound crossover point at Chequers Lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 17 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 21a and return.
