Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 14 August to Sunday 20 September

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 September 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Middlesex: Carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs will start this week. The west and east bound link roads to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M11 junction 4 Woodford Green, Greater London: Transport for London construction work

Construction work continues on the A406 this week. The southbound link road to the A406 eastbound will have lane closures and a 30mph speed restriction in place from Sunday 6 September. Additional full closures will also be required on occasions with signed diversions in place. For further information visit the scheme page.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound link road to the A406 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A406 eastbound to Redbridge and return.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 September. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 7. The southbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Waterworks roundabout.

M26 junction 2a Wrotham, Kent: Roundabout work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out works on the roundabout start this week. The east and west bound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 15 September for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A228 and A20 from the M20 junction 4.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 5, A21, the A25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical works will continue this week. The M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the clockwise link road via the M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the anti-clockwise link road via M25 junction 11 and return, to M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 13 Staines to junction 12 (M3), Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and M3 to rejoin the M25 at junction 12.

M25 junctions 16 (M40) to 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: Expansion joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will continue this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway including junction 17 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A412 southbound, A40 eastbound and M40 westbound to rejoin the M25 at junction 16.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 24.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping work will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 15 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 23 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 25.

M25 junction 25 (A10) Hertfordshire: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 17 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M11 will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26.

M25 junction 29 Romford, Essex: Expansion joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will start this week. The roundabout at junction 29 will have different sections closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Sunday 20 September for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. Relevant diversion routes will be clearly signed during the separate closures. Whilst the eastern section of the roundabout is closed, traffic will be diverted via the A127 eastbound to the A128 junction and return. During the western section closure, traffic will be diverted via the A127 westbound to the Upminster/Cranham junction and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The carriageway will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 14 September and from Wednesday 16 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing and structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Forest Road, Horsley Road, Downside Road and the A245 to Painshill.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between the M25 junction 30 and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 17 September for 2 nights. A20 Swanley, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The westbound carriageway from the M25 junction to Crittalls Corner will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via London Road and the A223.

A21 Sevenoaks, Kent: Carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 14 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: Gas main replacement work

Road users are advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks to replace the gas main on the A23 continue this week. The work started on Monday 27 July and is expected to last approximately 7 weeks. There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane will be closed throughout the project with clearly signed diversions in place. A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Tunnel maintenance/Dart Charge construction work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 18 September and on Saturday 19 September between 8.30pm and 5.30am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 4 nights and also on Sunday 20 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 14 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 15 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 16 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 17 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 18 September (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 19 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 20 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 September for 7 consecutive nights.

A1089 Tilbury, Essex: Horticulture work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticulture works will start this week. The northbound link road to the A13 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 16 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 westbound to the A1012 junction and return.
