Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 10 August - Sunday 16 August

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 August 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junction 1 (A316) Sunbury, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The eastbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 10 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A316, A311 and A308.

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 13 August for 3 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A311.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Middlesex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The westbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: structure maintenance/carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week.

The north and southbound link roads to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 11 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion for the southbound link road will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 26 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the northbound link road will be in place via the M11 junction 7 and return.

The north and southbound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 13 August. A clearly signed diversion for the southbound link road will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the northbound link road will be in place via the M11 junction 7 and return.

M20 junctions 1 Swanley to 3 (M26), Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 and M26.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The southbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 5, A21, A25 and return.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway sweeping/structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise link roads to the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structure maintenance will continue this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M23 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 12 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11.

M25 junction 13 Staines, Surrey: electrical work/carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 14 and return.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 12 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 13 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14.

M25 junction 14, Heathrow Terminal 4 & 5, Middlesex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 11 August. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will also be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 12 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3113, A3044 and A30. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 13.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: electrical work/carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 10 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via M25 clockwise to junction 24 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 22.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 13 August for 2 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Hertfordshire: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Friday 14 August for 2 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 28.

M25 junction 30 (A13), Thurrock, Essex – junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: gantry installation

Work to improve journeys by installing a new signage gantry will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Saturday 15 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, Blackwall Tunnel and A2 to M25 junction 2.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Dart Charge construction work/structure inspection work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 7 nights. Work on Friday night will be between 11pm and 6am. Work on Saturday night will be between 10pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and M25 junction 30 roundabout.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 13 August for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: gas main replacement work

Road users are advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks on the A23 to replace the gas main continue this week. The work started on Monday 27 July and is expected to last approximately 7 weeks.

There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane and Star Lane will be closed throughout the project with signed diversions in place.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Dart Charge construction work/tunnel maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 5 nights and also on Sunday 16 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 14 August and Sunday 16 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place, with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 10 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 11 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 12 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 13 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel closure
  • Friday 14 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure
  • Saturday 15 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel closure
  • Sunday 16 August (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel closure

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 August for 5 nights and also on Sunday 16 August. On Saturday 15 August the QEII Bridge will be closed between 10pm and 5.30am, with a clearly signed diversion in place via the A13, Blackwall Tunnel and A2. From 5.30am until 8am on Sunday 16 August three (of four) lanes on the QEII Bridge will be closed.
