The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 July 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 3 Lightwater, Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30 and A322 to M3 junction 3.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 2 Kew, Greater London: carriageway inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out carriageway and structural inspections will start this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A4 and the A312 to M4 junction 3.

M20 junctions 2 Wrotham to 3 (M26), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 1 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2, A20 London Road and the M26 to M20 junction 3.

M25 junction 3 (M20), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 3 roundabout.

M4 junction 5 Langley, Berkshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge joint replacement will start this week. The carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 2 August for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 5 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 1 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: electrical repair / resurfacing

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 4 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week.

The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 6 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M25 in both directions to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 2 nights.

The dedicated link roads from the M3 northbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from M3 junction 3, via the A322 and the A30 to M25 junction 13.

M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will continue this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 5 August for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 3 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights.

Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 4 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: structural inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural inspections will start this week. The southern half of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 1 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

The northern half of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 2 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights.

Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 31 and 30.

The clockwise (southbound) link road between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 2 August and from Thursday 4 August for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, Wennington Interchange, A1306 and M25 junction 31.

M40 junction 1a, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M40 eastbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

A1(M) junctions 3 Colney Heath – 4 Hatfield, Hertfordshire: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance will start this week. The northbound carriageway (including Hatfield Tunnel) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 4 August for 3 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 4.

A1(M) junctions 4 Hatfield – 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance will start this week. The southbound carriageway (including Hatfield Tunnel) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 3 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 2.

A1(M) junction 6 Welwyn, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 5 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7 and return.

A2 (M25), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day.

There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 1 August and from Wednesday 3 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 2 August and from Thursday 4 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the link road to junction 30.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 5 August for 2 nights. Work on Saturday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 junctions 1b Dartford to 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 7 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road at junction 1b and the dedicated link road to junction 2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 1 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 2 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 3 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 4 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 5 August (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 6 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 7 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
