The project, which was unveiled last month, will see roadworks between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm Services for bridge repairs and new safety barriers. The work, due to be completed in early 2017, was due to start on Friday (4 December) but will now start tomorrow due to the weekend’s severe weather.

All the overnight closures will take place between 11pm and 5am each night. The full list of forthcoming overnight closures includes:

  • tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8 December), northbound M6 between junctions 18 at Holmes Chapel and 19 at Knutsford (includes closure of northbound Knutsford services)
  • Wednesday night (9 December) southbound between junctions 19 and 18 (includes closure of southbound Knutsford services)
  • Saturday, 12 December and possibly Sunday, 13 December, southbound between junction 20 at Lymm Services and junction 19
  • Monday, 14 December and possibly Tuesday, 15 December, northbound between junctions 19 and 20

All the work is weather dependent. Advance warning signs will be in place to advise road users of the closures, and diversion routes will be clearly signed.

Drivers can get more information about the project and or sign up for regular email updates by visiting the dedicated project webpage.
