Press release

Overnight closures on A11 dualling scheme

As work to improve the A11 Fiveways to Thetford continues, road users are advised there will be road closures on the A11 next week.

The A11 overnight closures, which will take place on Monday 22 September until Friday 26 September between Fiveways roundabout and the Thetford roundabout, will allow the Highways Agency to carry out surfacing works including white lines, anti-skid sections and remove temporary safety barriers.

The scheme is progressing well and will complete in Winter 2014.

During the work, the A11 will be closed in both directions from 10pm to 6am the following morning. The work is expected to complete by 6am on Saturday 27 September.

Highways Agency assistant project manager, Anna Smyth said:

We have planned the closures on the A11 for when traffic flows are at their lowest and have worked closely with local partners to ensure disruption to road users kept to a minimum.

We continue to progress well on the scheme which is due for completion in Winter 2014.

There will be a clearly signed diversion via the A1065 and B1106 at Brandon during the closures, with advance warning signs placed along local roads.

Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys prior to setting out.
