Overnight closures of A38 near Burton Upon Trent

Overnight work to replace expansion joints on the A38 Eggington Viaduct near Burton Upon Trent starts on Monday 23 June for five nights.

The joints allow structures to expand and contract with seasonal changes in temperature.

The work involves a full overnight closure of the A38 northbound carriageway between the Clay Mills junction and Toyota junction from 9pm to 5am.

Traffic will be diverted off the A38 at Burton and along the A5121, A511 and the A50.

Highways Agency project manager Colin Jackson said:

To carry out the work safely and efficiently we need to close the carriageway. We advise road users affected by the diversions to allow extra time for their journeys.
