Press release

Overnight closures at A45 / A46 Tollbar End Junction Improvement scheme this weekend (22 to 23 November)

An overnight closure will take place this weekend on the A45 eastbound between Stivichall junction and the Tollbar roundbout near Coventry as the Highways Agency makes safety improvements to the road.

The closure will be in place between 8pm and 6am on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November and is necessary to enable new road markings to be installed and to make alignment changes to the Tollbar circulatory carriageway which will facilitate construction of one of the underpass bridges.

During the closure traffic will be diverted off the Stivichall intersection to the A444 northbound to Whitley, the A4082 and the B4110, where motorists can join the Tollbar roundabout, which will be restricted to one lane during the closure. The diversion will be clearly signed ahead of any closures.

Project Manager for the Highways Agency, Paul Nagra, said:

We are removing the old and refreshing the road markings to enable road users to access the new lanes and layout of the roundabout safely and correctly.

As the revised layout would be unfamiliar to motorist I would like to remind them to take extra care travelling through the road works and allow additional time for their journeys.

Historically, the junction has been a very busy one and the improvements we are undertaking will have long-term benefits for road users by easing congestion and improving the flow of traffic.
