  • In pictures: Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne meets Australian athletes in London.

    • The Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham met President Ali Bongo Ondimba in London on 1 August. Among the topics discussed were growing UK-Gabon trade relations. After the meeting Minister Bellingham said “I was delighted to meet President Bongo once again. This was an excellent opportunity to build on previous discussions and further enhance UK-Gabon ties.”
    • Lord Howell yesterday spoke at the opening of an exhibition of Chinese art at the Barbican Arts Centre, a major part of China’s contribution to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
    • Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham has discussed strengthening commercial ties between the UK and Kenya in a meeting with the country’s Foreign Minister.
    • The British Business Embassy is today hosting a Global Business Summit on Healthcare and Life Sciences. “Rising to the Healthcare Challenges of the Next Decade” will discuss and debate the ways in transformational change in healthcare can be achieved through collaboration between industry, academia and healthcare providers. The event is being streamed live on the British Business Embassy’s YouTube channel.
