Northern Ireland citizens receive their Investitures

Five Northern Ireland people receive their honours from HRH The Prince of Wales

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

On the second day of engagements in Northern Ireland, HRH The Prince of Wales this morning held an Investiture for five local people. In the short ceremony in the Throne Room of Hillsborough Castle, family and friends of the recipients gathered to celebrate their special day.

The recipients of the honours were:

Miss Rosemary Rainey who received the OBE for Services to Education in Northern Ireland. Rosemary was Chair of the Belfast Education and Library Board.

Mr Thomas Hanlon who received the MBE for services to youth - The Boys’ Brigade.

Professor Eileen Harkin-Jones who received an Honorary OBE for services to Higher Education in Northern Ireland.

Mr Malachy McAleer who received an Honorary OBE for services to education in Northern Ireland.

Mrs Joan Hamilton who received an Honorary MBE for services to Cancer Sufferers.

Following the ceremony, HRH The Prince of Wales took the opportunity to chat informally with the family and friends of the recipients over light refreshments.
