New video blog from the Foreign Secretary on the Arab Spring

In his latest video blog, Foreign Secretary William Hague describes an "extraordinary time" in foreign affairs.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Foreign Secretary spoke about the “huge opportunity” the Arab Spring presents, and what independent institutions and political freedom could mean for the people of the region.

Referring to the UK’s role, he said:

“The United Kingdom and its allies will stay at the forefront of these events, working to ensure what is happening in the Middle East will become one of the greatest advances in modern history rather than a change which collapses back into greater authoritarianism or violence.

“We will continue to focus unrelentingly on the changes in the Middle East and North Africa.”
