New British High Commissioner Presents Credentials

The new British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr James Dauris, presented his letter of credence to Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena.

The new British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr James Dauris, presented his letter of credence from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to H E President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday, 29 April, 2015 at a formal ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

The High Commissioner congratulated President Sirisena on the passing of the 19th amendment to the Sri Lankan constitution and warmly welcomed his recent visit to London in the context of the strong and close relationship that Sri Lanka and the UK have for so long enjoyed.

Mr James Dauris joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1995 and served most recently as British Ambassador to Peru. Prior to that, he served in Colombia and Moscow;

he has also worked in London on South Asian and European Union issues.

Mr Dauris has a degree in law from the University of Cambridge and worked as a solicitor in the City of London for a number of years before joining the FCO.
