The bridge, on the east side of Tollbar roundabout is set to be completed overnight on Sunday 19 June in time for the Monday morning traffic. It follows the opening of the west bridge in April this year.

Traffic on the eastern side of the roundabout will be moved off the existing carriageway and onto the adjacent new bridge. This means the new roundabout layout will be in place from Monday 20 June.

Highways England project manager Paul Nagra said:

The opening of the east bridge means drivers will be able to enjoy the benefits of a new roundabout layout from Monday morning. This new layout will help reduce queueing on the approach, and brings us a step closer to completion – so it’s good news for drivers in the area. I’d like to advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys while people get used to the new roundabout layout.

The new bridge is part of the A45/A46 Tollbar End improvement scheme, which will increase capacity and improve journey times and safety.

Overnight closures of the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass southbound carriageway between A428/A46 Binley Woods roundabout and Tollbar roundabout will be required between 8pm and 6am on Friday 17 June and Saturday 18 June.

An additional overnight closure of the A45 Stonebridge Highway eastbound carriageway will be in place on Sunday 19 June between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signed.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys while the overnight closures take place.

Further information of the A45/A46 Tollbar End improvement scheme can be found on the scheme webpage.
