The Government Actuary’s Department (GAD) announces the appointment of Sue Vivian to its Management Board as Head of Public Sector Pensions. In this executive role, Mrs Vivian will oversee the advice that the Department gives to some 20 schemes with 12 million members in total. Sue joined GAD in 2004 after spending many years in private sector consulting where she advised both trustee and corporate clients and spent some time in R&D roles.

The new role of Head of Public Service Pensions is one of a number of functional leadership roles at GAD whereby the role holder combines client work with executive responsibilities. Other functional leadership roles announced by GAD are Ian Rogers (Head of Business Development), Aidan Smith (Head of Technical and Professional) and Matt Wood (Head of Actuarial Services).

Commenting on the appointments Martin Clarke, Government Actuary, said “GAD has a highly capable group of talented actuaries who are dedicated to public service. I am delighted that these recent appointees have been able to step up to take a greater role in improving the department’s capability and value for money”.
