National Apprenticeship Week 2011

The Deputy PM was speaking at the start of National Apprenticeship Week and said the Coalition Government going to create more apprenticeships than ever before.

Mr Clegg said apprenticeships help to make businesses grow and could “play their part in getting Britain back on its feet”.

He said:

Ask employers who take on apprentices and nearly all of them will tell you: their apprentices are loyal, they’re hardworking, and they’re helping British businesses grow.

The Deputy PM also said the Coalition Government is increasing its investment in apprenticeships and will be providing training for over one million apprentices over the next three years.

Despite the difficulties in the public finances and the need to rein in spending, this is an area where we are increasing investment. Providing training for over one million apprentices over the next three years.

Giving them the confidence and support to kickstart a new career so they can play their part in getting Britain back on its feet.
