Minister for Europe welcomes EU enlargement progress reports
Minister for Europe David Lidington has welcomed the European Commission's progress reports on candidate and potential candidate countries to the European Union.
Speaking today the Minister for Europe said:
“I welcome the 2011 progress reports published by the Commission today. The UK government will study the detail of the reports carefully. I would like to reiterate the UK’s strong support for enlargement and to note our warm appreciation of the role of the Commission and Commissioner Fule in supporting the enlargement process. We remain clear that the future of Iceland, Turkey and all countries of the Western Balkans is in the EU once the full range of criteria have been met.”
