Press release

Lane closures on the M6 in Staffordshire for bridge work

Work to repair joints on a bridge over the top of the M6 in Staffordshire will mean some overnight lane closures from 19 November for two nights.

The work at the Hungerford House Farm over bridge, near Madeley in Staffordshire, and between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6, will be carried out on the northbound carriageway on the night of 19 November, when the hard shoulder and lanes one and two will be closed.

On 20 November the hard shoulder and lanes one and two of the southbound carriageway will be closed.

The closures will be between 7pm and 6am. The bridge itself, which services Hungerford House Farm, will also be closed to vehicles during the works, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

Highways Agency project manager Colin Jackson said:

This is essential bridge maintenance which is necessary for the ongoing safety of the structure.

To carry it out safely and efficiently we need to close lanes underneath the bridge. A lane will remain open during the work but road users should allow extra time for their journeys.
