James Hall chief executive of the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) will retire from his post next month.

His decision to leave was agreed last year to ensure stable leadership of IPS through the election period and the initial transition to a new government.

Mr Hall said it has been a privilege to lead the organisation, which has ‘excellent people, a strong focus on the customer and a commitment to deliver’.

‘There is obviously significant change going on and I am proud of how quickly and professionally the staff are already delivering the new government’s agenda. I wish the organisation every success for the future.’
