International sports federations learn from Britain’s successful preparations for London 2012

Successful preparations for London 2012 has helped international sports federations view Britain as a country that can deliver on hosting world class events, Hugh Robertson will tell the Sport Accord conference in Quebec City today.

Joining the London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe, Mr Robertson will address the conference on preparations for London 2012 and the legacy that the Games will leave for sport at grassroots and elite levels.

Decade of sport

“We are ready to deliver a great Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer,” said Mr Robertson.”But the top class sport will not stop there. Over the next few years we’ll be hosting some fantastic competitions on home soil that will keep the passion for sport burning, which London 2012 will ignite.”

Following on from London 2012, the UK will host the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2015 Rugby Union World Cup, 2015 European Hockey Championships, 2017 World Athletics Championships and 2019 Cricket World Cup.
