An Insolvency Service board member will be honoured for accomplishments across her entire career by an international women’s insolvency organisation in Washington DC in April.

Frances Coulson, a non-executive member of the Insolvency Service Board, will become the third person ever to be inducted to the Women of Restructuring Hall of Fame, after being nominated for the honour by peers in the insolvency and restructuring sector.

Ms Coulson is Head of Insolvency & Restructuring at Wedlake Bell LLP as well as a member of the Insolvency Service board, which is responsible for the long-term success of the agency.

She received nominations for the honour for her work across the insolvency sector and her commitment to mentoring team members and women across the industry.

Dean Beale, Chief Executive of the Insolvency Service, said:

We are thrilled that Frances has been recognised internationally as an outstanding restructuring practitioner.

Her induction to the Women of Restructuring Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to her tireless work to ensure the UK has a world class insolvency regime, and her incredible championing and support of women in the insolvency sector.

This is a well-deserved honour for such a fantastic leader in the insolvency and restructuring world.

As well as being a member of the Insolvency Service board, which is responsible for the long-term success of the agency, Ms Coulson has chaired regulatory committees and been on charity boards.

She is a former President of R3 – the UK trade association for insolvency and restructuring professionals – and Vice President of INSOL Europe, the European association of restructuring and insolvency professionals.

Ms Coulson also chaired the appeals committee for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is a Deputy Chair of the Fraud Advisory Panel, and sits on the Companies & Insolvency Court Users’ Committee of the High Court, contributing to drafting practice directions and improving users’ experience of the court.

She will receive the honour as part of IWIRC Annual Conference In Washington DC on 18 April 2024, alongside Tiffany Wong, an insolvency professional from Hong Kong, China, who wins the organisation’s 2024 Woman of the Year in Restructuring Award. The Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments of an inductee’s entire career.

Karen Fellowes, Chair of IWIRC, said:

IWIRC’s mission is to enhance the success, promotion and connection of women in the insolvency profession worldwide. Our honourees this year are outstanding practitioners who exemplify these values as leaders in their community and beyond.
