Independent member appointed to the Judicial Pension Board
The Lord Chancellor has approved the appointment, by the Chair of the Judicial Pension Board, of Carrie Young as an independent member.
The Lord Chancellor has approved the appointment, by the Chair of the Judicial Pension Board (JPB), of Carrie Young as an Independent Member for 3 years from 9 June 2026.
The JPB was established under the Judicial Pension Regulations 2015 (the “regulations”). The JPB assists the Lord Chancellor to manage and govern the Judicial Pension Schemes by ensuring compliance with the regulations and other requirements.
Under the regulations, Independent Members of the JPB are appointed by the Chair with the approval of the Lord Chancellor.
The appointment of JPB Independent Members is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments and recruitment processes align with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
Biography
Since 2023, Ms Young has worked at Equans Services Limited as a Pensions Governance Manager. Previously, from 2022-2023, she was an associate in the Pensions Department within the Company and Commercial team at Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP. In 2021, she was appointed Chair of the Joint Independent Audit Committee for Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and Northumbria Chief Constable.
