The British High Commission is changing how it delivers consular services to British nationals in Sylhet. The changes will come into effect on 1 November and will improve our support for the most vulnerable. They will also allow us to dedicate more time to expanding our range of partnerships that will help us to deliver a better service.

An essential benefit for consular customers is that they will no longer need to visit our office. Instead they can get advice from the comfort of their home, from their place of work or while travelling. Our website, consular contact centre and email will provide a faster as well as more efficient mode of delivering services to our customers.

Our office in Sylhet will continue to provide consular assistance to British Nationals. Before visiting, customers should make an appointment, which will help us to prioritise the most vulnerable, urgent cases, such as victims of violence and those about to be forced into marriage.

Customers can call us on +880 2 8822705 between 8am and 4pm Sunday to Thursday, or email us at consular.bangladesh@fco.gov.uk, clearly stating the purpose of their enquiry. We will respond to all customer queries within 5 working days. Customers can find consular information on our website

Our consular team cannot deal with any UK visa or passport related enquiries. Such enquiries should be directed to:
