The slip roads will be widened and traffic lights installed to increase the capacity to support the new Lidl distribution centre nearby. The work will involve various lane closures and overnight slip road closures.

Highways England project sponsor Kat Saradinova said:

The improvements to the junction will provide additional capacity and support local development. We have worked with the developers to ensure that any disruption to drivers and local residents is minimised. The M271 itself will remain unaffected and any slip road closures will be carried out overnight, when traffic flows are lowest.

The work is due to start on Monday 18 January and will take 9 months to complete.

The work is being carried out by the developer, Barker Mill Estates. For more information about the road improvements contact R&W Traffic Management on 02380 845379.
