Contractors for Highways England will be resurfacing the westbound entry slip road, at the Belle Isle junction, as well as repainting white lines and installing new reflective road studs.

The slip road is due to be closed from 8pm on Saturday 24 October until 6am on Monday 26 October, and again between 8pm and 6am on Monday night to ensure weekday traffic is not affected.

Highways England project manager Mark Ramsden said:

It’s essential that this work takes place so that drivers can benefit from smoother and safer journeys, and a well-maintained road network.

The slip road will be closed during the weekend and overnight on Monday to allow the work to be completed safely. We are carrying out the improvement work at these times to avoid causing disruption to weekday traffic, when the motorway is at its busiest.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Moor Road to junction 5 at Beeston when the slip road is closed. This work is subject to good weather conditions.
