Contractors for Highways England will be resurfacing the entire length of the motorway which is around 3 miles long. As part of the work reflective road studs will be replaced and the white lines repainted.

The work will take place between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday, and is expected to be completed by Friday 18 December.

Highways England project manager Martin Barnes said:

This work is being carried out overnight when traffic levels are at their lowest and, once complete, drivers will benefit from smoother and safer journeys.

We have informed local businesses about the planned closures to enable them to plan for the work. During the closures there will be clearly signed diversion routes in place.
