HM Land Registry expands new build training with in-depth workshop

A new, in-depth online workshop will help property professionals reduce common new build application issues and avoid delays.

HM Land Registry has launched New Builds in Depth, a new customer training workshop for conveyancers, developers and other property professionals who regularly work on new build registrations.

The launch workshop will take place on Tuesday 7 July, from 10am to 11.30am.

The free 90-minute online session has been developed in response to customer feedback and shaped by consultation with five focus groups. It focuses on the areas where customers said they wanted more practical guidance and support with new build applications, including worked examples.

The session will cover four areas that conveyancers say commonly create difficulties in new build applications:

  • multi-title lodgement
  • restrictions
  • plans issues
  • e-signatures (not including qualified e-signatures)

The workshop will also include a live Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to put questions to HM Land Registry casework experts who specialise in new build applications.

HM Land Registry’s Customer Training Lead, Roger Holdom, said:

New build applications can be complex, particularly where they involve multiple titles, restrictions, plans or the use of e-signatures.

We developed New Builds in Depth after customers told us they wanted more practical guidance, worked examples and time to ask detailed questions about the issues they see most often.

The session brings together our new build casework expertise and customer training support, so conveyancers and other property professionals can leave with clearer steps they can apply when preparing and lodging applications.

The workshop is part of HM Land Registry’s wider programme of free customer training and support, designed to help professional customers get applications right first time.

Customers who already receive HM Land Registry customer training updates should look out for their invitation. Property professionals who do not currently receive updates can register for the workshop using this link: New Builds in Depth workshop.
