A colourful and diverse collection of over twenty hats worn by Her Majesty the Queen between 1970 and 2010 will be on display at Hillsborough Castle from 1st to 27th August.

The hats designed by top British milliners can be seen as part of the normal summer tour programme at Hillsborough. Two were worn on official visits to Northern Ireland whilst another was worn by the Queen to Prince William’s passing out parade at Sandhurst.

The collection is normally housed at Buckingham Palace and this is the first time it has been on display and has come to Northern Ireland.

Welcoming the exhibition to Hillsborough Castle the Secretary of State the Rt Hon Owen Paterson MP said:

“I am delighted to welcome such a superb collection of Her Majesty’s hats to Hillsborough Castle. Tours of the castle are popular every summer and the hats will be an added attraction this year.”

Following the display at Hillsborough Castle the collection will once again return to Buckingham Palace.
