Highways England advises drivers to plan their journey for East of England Showground
Highways England is reminding road users to drive carefully and plan their journey for the LAMMA event at the East of England Showground.
The event is the UK’s largest farm machinery, equipment and agricultural show, which is being held at East of England Showground in Peterborough next Wednesday (20 January) and Thursday (21 January).
It is estimated up to 10,000 vehicles will travel to the event, which is just off the A605 and A1/A1M junction at Peterborough, each day.
Highways England is working in partnership with the event organiser and local authorities to help get traffic to and from the showground and keep traffic flowing. Anyone travelling through the area is, however, advised to allow extra time for their journey, or to plan an alternative route or time.
Mike Perie, Highways England Events Planning Manager for the East of England, said:
This is a very popular event, and I’d advise all drivers using the roads nearby to be able to plan their journeys to avoid being stuck in traffic. None of the roads nearby that are managed by Highways England - the A605, the A1 and the M1 - will have any restrictions on them, but it is possible they will become very busy especially at the beginning and end of each day as people arrive at and leave the event.
The event opens at 6am on Wednesday and will finish at 6pm on Thursday.
Highway England provides live traffic information via its website, local and national radio travel bulletins, electronic road signs and mobile platforms, such as the iPhone.
