Head of the British Diplomatic Service visits Algeria

Head of the British Diplomatic Service Simon Fraser visits Algeria on 3-4 October 2010 on his first overseas trip in the role.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

During his visit, Mr Fraser was received by Algerian Deputy Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs, Mr Abdelkader Messahel. The two officials discussed bilateral cooperation between the UK and Algeria and ways of developing it further. Mr Fraser also met with a range of business leaders and government officials during his stay.

Mr Fraser also gave interviews with El Watan and El Khabar in which he discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues. Please see the links below for the full text:

Simon Fraser is the senior foreign policy adviser to the Foreign Secretary, and responsible for the management of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and British Embassies and High Commissions around the world.
