On 3 July 2013, the British Consulate General in St Petersburg hosted the 4th annual GREAT British Brands Day to celebrate UK excellence in style and design. British Consul General Gareth Ward opened the festival by saying:

Russians know a lot about British history and traditions. But today I want you to find out more about our brands and contemporary lifestyle, so that you can enjoy it here and when you visit.

Did you know that Britain has over 2500 museums, more than twice as many as France? Did you know that Britain has 600 islands and 1200km of coastline, with a beach voted the 3rd best in the whole world by global website Tripadviser? Did you know that Brits have won 77 Nobel prizes in science and technology, and that more Grand Prix cars are built in the UK than anywhere else? Today you can see, hear and taste GREAT Britain for yourselves.

A total of 33 British brands were presented by 26 partners. The event attracted over 1000 guests who took part in master-classes, presentations and tasting food and drinks from the UK.
