Free resource efficiency conference
A free partnership event to help businesses use resources efficiently is being held by the Environment Agency in Peterborough.
The Business Resource Efficiency Conference is being held jointly with Anglian Water, Renewables East and Greater Cambridge & Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership.
Aimed at helping businesses identify the commercial benefits of being resource efficient, the conference will cover energy, water, waste, materials and environmental management. It is being held at the Kingsgate Centre in Peterborough on Tuesday 20 May but businesses must book their place by 12 May.
Some of the topics that will be covered include:
- Why all businesses need to tackle resource efficiency today
- Simple steps to save money on energy & water
- How to reduce waste going to landfill
- What grants and financial incentives are available to help reduce costs
Helping to get the messages across will be Amazon explorer Ed Stafford as well as other speakers from Defra, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and Waterwise.
Insight and Advice
Through a mixture of presentations, workshops and case studies, delegates will hear from knowledgeable individuals offering insight, advice and practical tips about how to improve resource efficiency. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet organisations offering support, both practical and financial, to tackle the issues being addressed.
DEFRA estimates that companies in the East could benefit from over £300m of savings a year by investing time and resources into lowering energy use alone. However, businesses face a number of barriers that prevent them making these operational changes, not least accessing the knowledge that can assist them to identify which areas of resource efficiency to prioritise.
