Foreign Secretary William Hague wishes President Alassane Ouattara and the people of Cote d'Ivoire a more peaceful future.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Foreign Secretary William Hague said:

“Today, 19 April, I spoke to President Alassane Ouattara to welcome the fact that he has at last been able to fully assume the office to which he was elected last November. I offered him the support of the British government as he tackles the huge challenges that his country now faces.

We spoke about the importance of national reconciliation and agreed that all allegations of human rights abuses should be properly investigated and those found to be responsible brought to justice. I wished President Ouattara and all the people of Cote d’Ivoire a more peaceful future.”
