British nationals who wish to register interest to purchase a seat on the UK Government charter flight should call 020 7008 8765 from the UK or 002 022791 6000 in Egypt. We have published more information on this service.

On Tuesday 1 February, the Foreign Secretary announced that the UK would provide a charter flight from Cairo for British Nationals who wish to leave the city in light of the ongoing demonstrations. The charter flight is due to depart Cairo today, carrying around 180 British Nationals back to the UK. Given the continuing fluidity and unpredictability of the situation in Egypt, the Foreign Office has decided to charter a second plane for British Nationals. The plane will depart from Cairo on Saturday, and will supplement existing commercial services. We will provide further such flights as necessary.

The situation in Cairo remains unpredictable, and the FCO advises all British Nationals to leave the city unless they have a pressing reason to stay. A large team remains on the ground, including significant specialist reinforcements sent in the course of the last week from London and other British Embassies in the region. Staff who are not immediately involved in responding to the crisis or helping British Nationals are being temporarily removed in line with our travel advice.
