Find out about Port of Liverpool route proposals
People in Liverpool can find out more about proposals for the future of the vital A5036 Port of Liverpool route at a series of public events over the next few weeks.
Highways England is exploring ways of upgrading the route between the motorway network and the port, reducing congestion and improving journey reliability for businesses, commuters and other road users – supporting expansion of the port and other investment in the area.
Preliminary assessments have been underway since last March with Highways England teams looking at 2 options:
- improving the current route through Litherland and other communities which link the M57 and M58 at Switch Island to the port
- linking the port and motorway network with a new road through Rimrose Valley – north of the existing A5036 – with a new junction on the recently completed Thornton to Switch Island link road
Highways England project manager Carl Stockton said:
We’ve done a lot of preliminary work and assessments to help develop these 2 options and these information events will give local people the chance to come and talk to us and find out more.
The public information exhibitions will take place at:
- Litherland Sports Club on Friday 4 March (2pm to 8pm)
- Netherton Library on Monday 7 March (10am to 5pm)
- All Saints and Frydeswide’s Church Hall on Thursday 10 March (2pm to 8pm)
- Crosby Library on Friday 11 March (10am to 5pm)
