Work to replace the current fence - which helps stop animals straying onto the carriageway - began on Monday (13 April) and is expected to be completed by Sunday 26 April.

The work is taking place along a single lane section of the A595 between Dalzell Street and Springfield Road between 6am and 9pm each day with temporary traffic signals in operation.

A second project at Bigrigg – to repair drainage along the route – will start on Monday 27 April and last until the end of May.

Footpath crossing points at Far Moor and New Street will also be improved, making it easier for people with disabilities. The work will take place around the clock with noisier operations carried out between 8am and 7pm.
