Equalities minister Lynne Featherstone has visited a rural entrepreneur to support women in business. She met Liz Hollingshead to celebrate the success of her company Walton Thorns Farm Holiday Cottages.
Aspiring female entrepreneurs
The minister travelled to the Leicester village of Thrussington to show the importance of the government’s new support package for women’s enterprise. Aspiring female entrepreneurs are being offered help to succeed, including a £2 million fund for those wanting to set up or expand businesses in rural areas. The money will go to the Rural Growth Networks scheme and will be used to support businesswomen like Liz.
Lynne Featherstone said: ‘Women play a vital role in generating sustainable economic growth in rural areas but too often they face barriers which stop them from getting on the entrepreneurial ladder.
‘The £2 million fund will provide a much-needed boost for budding businesswomen and inspire exactly the kind of success story I have seen today.’
