HMA Disability Workshop

On 17 February, around 70 participants from the human resources divisions of private and public organisations attended the event, which was organised by Fundación San Francisco Global. There were talks from representatives of several institutions like the National Council for Disabilities (Conadis) and the Ministry of Labour and the Technical Secretariat for Disabilities (Setedis), and statements from people with disabilities from the organisation Gigantes Sobre Ruedas (Giants on Wheels). The workshop was very dynamic. Among the issues covered were concepts of disability and the terminology used when referring to it, the legal framework and obligations for employing people with disabilities, some common misconceptions around the issue, the opportunities this represents, and the life experiences of people with disabilities. Ambassador Patrick Mullee gave a speech during the opening ceremony of this event, which was funded through our Bilateral Programme Fund.
